about the CAF

CAF Organization

The Canadian Aikido Federation (CAF) has existed for over 20 years. On April 25, 1997, the CAF received official charter as a non-profit corporation from the Directorate of Incorporation, Industry Canada. The by-laws governing the CAF are detailed in the CAF constitution, a copy of which is provided to all registered CAF dojos.

Technical Direction

CAF operates a technical committee and an examination committee chaired by our Technical Director who currently holds a 8th Dan rank in Aikido.

Affiliation to Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo)

The CAF is dedicated to the teachings of Morihei Ueshiba, the Founder of Aikido and is a member of the Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo) in Tokyo, Japan.

The CAF is affiliated with Aikikai World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo) in Tokyo, Japan. Yudansha promotions are registered with the Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters through the CAF office.

Provincial Associations

Each province or territory with a recognized Association of member Dojos is entitled to send a delegate to the CAF annual general meeting to vote on CAF business as described in detail in the CAF constitution. Several of these organizations maintain their own websites. Links are provided below.

CAF Annual General Meeting

The CAF Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held at different locations across Canada.
Delegates from the registered Provincial Aikido Associations and the Board of Directors meet at the AGM to discuss CAF business. The AGM is most often held in conjunction with a training seminar.
